Artist-designed towel by Austrian artist Deborah Sengl, featuring one of her characteristic dog drawings. Woven in Austria from 100% cotton in a high-quality double-sided jacquard weave, size 180 x 90 cm.

Deborah Sengl’s works (*1974 in Vienna, works and lives in Vienna) revolve around the themes of disguise and deception. She explores questions of identity and masquerading using the animal kingdom, and employs painting, drawing, and sculpture to create a complex body of work that evokes ideas about – and criticisms of – role-playing in human society, a theme that is particularly relevant today. Inventive, technically brilliant, and rich in fantasy, her works leave a lasting impression. In addition to their precise technique and elements of surprise, they are also distinguished by their substantial depth.

 

Die renommierte Wiener Künstlerin Deborah Sengl hat ein exklusives Handtuch gestaltet, gefertigt in doppelseitiger Jacquardwebung. Eine Vorder- oder Rückseite gibt es nicht – das Handtuch ist auf beiden Seiten wunderschön. Das 180 x 90 cm große Tuch aus 100 Prozent Baumwolle wurde in einem Traditionsbetrieb im österreichischen Waldviertel hergestellt.

Die Arbeiten von  Deborah Sengl (*1974 in Wien, lebt und arbeitet in Wien) kreisen um das Thema der Tarnung und der Täuschung. Sie überträgt Fragen nach Identität und der Maskerade auf das Tierreich und gestaltet mittels Malereien, Zeichnungen und Skulpturen ein komplexes Werk, das gerade in der heutigen Zeit, Assoziationen zum Rollenverhalten der menschlichen Gesellschaft und damit auch Kritik an diesem hervorruft. Erfinderisch, technisch brillant und phantasiereich umgesetzt, erwecken ihre Arbeiten bleibende Eindrücke. Neben der handwerklichen Präzision und dem Überraschungseffekt zeigen sie stets auch eine inhaltliche Tiefe.
